Just to remind all parents that there will be no scout meeting for the next 2 weeks due to our trip to Switzerland. We will meet again on Friday 6th August. For those that have recently moved up from cubs, Scouts does run through the summer unlike the other sections. Thanks Dib Dob

HQ Building Update |

HQ Updates
After many setbacks with the
weather we are nearly there with our new HQ building (see photographs below and on our twitter or Facebook). In a week or 2 the
completed shell of the HQ will be handed back to us and work must begin in
earnest to get the fit out complete so that we can move back in and get on with
our scouting.
Like everything else in life many
hands make light work. The Group
has over 200 members, that means over 400 parents. Between everyone we must have the necessary skills and
enthusiasm to complete this huge building project that will benefit thousands
of children for many years to come.
How can you help?
- Can you sponsor a fixture or fitting? Attached is a list of the fixtures we
need and the associated cost.
Please consider pledging the cost of an item so we can go out and buy in
bulk and get the best possible deal.

let us know). The list is available here.
- Does your company have a sponsorship / charity
fund that may be able to help us?
Let us know the details.
- Do you have a skill (professionally or as a DIY
enthusiast) and some spare time – perhaps tiling, electrics, kitchen fitting, painting
or even brewing up? Let us know
how you can help. We will be
scheduling work party weekends soon so watch this space.
However you can help, be it time
or financially, large or small, it is very much appreciated. With everyone working together it
should be as easy as 1, 2, 3.

New Building Progress |

As the weather improves progress has speeded up and the floor steels have been inserted. The floor will be put in place on Wednesday 10th March

As weather takes a turn for the better the contractor is at last making progress. The large steel beams are now in place and the majority of the floor should go in on Wednesday 10th March

Supporters Scheme Donations |

Our Project of rebuilding our new Scouting Centre finally got started in October . As many of you may know we have been building (excuse the pun) up to this moment for a long long time now and money will be tight as always.
If you can donate to our Supporters Scheme we would be very grateful and if you include a postal address we will acknowledge your donation with a commemorative card complete with an artist's impression of the new building.

New Climbing Wall Arrives |

|
Our New Mobile Climbing Wall arrived at our Headquarters site on Saturday 17th October.
A Group of Leaders were trained in all the safety aspects of erecting the wall and its ongoing safe usage.
This new facility adds to the array of activities that can be enjoyed at 5th Urmston. We are indebted to SportEngland who have provided funding and Paul for his enthusiasm and support in following this project through.
