What are Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouts are boys and girls aged between 8 and 10½ years old. The Cub Scout Leader, Akela, runs the Pack with Assistants, the youngsters work in small groups called Sixes which are led by older Cub Scouts called Sixers.
Cub Scouting, by tradition, has adopted some of the ideas from Rudyard Kiplings “The Jungle Book” stories and therefore feature to some degree in the programmes. Some of the leaders are known to the youngsters by the names of the animals in this book.
What do we do?
Cub Scouts enjoy a great deal of fun and adventure whilst in the pack. They will also have opportunities to gain awards and badges. These awards are given in recognition of the effort made by each youngster at their own level of development and understanding. The Cub Scout Programme includes activities such as
Camping Caring for the environment
Cooking First Aid
Exploring Helping Others
What do we wear?
Cub Scouts have a smart practical uniform, comprising of a green sweatshirt and the Group neckerchief. There is also a woggle to hold the neckerchief in place. Blue Cargo pants complete the uniform. A Group “T Shirt” is available for activities. |
