What are Beaver Scouts?
“Beaver Scout Activities are a combination of learning and having fun”
Beaver Scouts are 6 and 7 year old boys and girls who like having fun and making friends. The Beaver Scout section is the youngest of the four sections.
Beaver Scouts meet once a week in a “ Colony “ which is run by a trained Beaver Scout Leader with assistance from other Leaders. In order to maintain an adequate standard of supervision it has to be understood that parental assistance within the Beaver section is a must. On accepting a boy or girl into Beavers, it is expected that parents provide support in both meetings and activities. As a parent you will be asked to assist with transport to and from activities away from the Headquarters.
What do we do?
Beaver Scout Activities are a combination of learning and having fun, whether it be simple crafts such as making space ships and monsters from scrap materials or visits to fun parks or the zoo.
After a few weeks of attending colony meetings, a new Beaver Scout will make their first promise, thereby joining the Beaver Scout Section which also makes them a member of the World-wide Scout Movement.
The Promise is very simple:
I promise to do my best, to be kind and helpful and to love God”
When a Beaver Scout reaches 8 years of age, he will “ swim up” to Cub Scouts.
What do we wear ?
Beaver Scouts have their own smart, practical uniform comprising a Turquoise sweatshirt, the Group neckerchief and a woggle to hold it in place. Blue cargo pants complete the uniform. A Group “T Shirt” is available for activities. |
